Transformation

So I have a confession.  Since joining the wonderful design team at Really Reasonable Ribbon, I've become a bit of a ribbon hoarder :-/  I will pull out my RRR stash, admire the beauty, handle some of my favorites, and then carry on a a bit of an inner debate about whether or not to cut into them.   One of these favorites is the Silky Crush Wrinkled Ribbon in Champagne.  The beautiful sheen, ethereal texture, and romantic, old world hue make me swoon, and despite my temptation to keep it all to myself, I've decided to start sharing the beauty and use it not only on cards, but also on handmade keepsake boxes that I plan to give away during the holidays.
For today, I'd like to share with you a card I just made for a loved one going through a difficult challenge, one that will test her in many ways. But despite how difficult this will be for her, I truly believe that these types of experiences are put into our lives for a reason, that they possess the potential to transform us within and help deepen our understanding of what it means to be human.

For my focal image, I chose a butterfly - the perfect embodiment of transformation, in my opinion.  Hoping this card and some well chosen words written inside will lift her up and empower her.

As for my supplies, I used DCWV "Be Mine" papers, a Sizzix "Frame, Fancy" die by Karen Burniston, a Martha Stewart Edger punch and Butterfly punch.  All the paper pieces were aged with Tea Dye Distress ink from Tim Holtz.

For embellishment, I used my precious Silky Crush Wrinkled Ribbon in Champagne and stick pins from Jenny Bowlin.  I won't tell you how long I tilted and turned this card in the sun, completely smitten with how this fiber catches the light.

Thanks so much for visiting with me here today!  Come back tomorrow to join in on our next challenge! I love seeing what y'all are creating.  - Vivian

You Are Sew Cute! by Katie

It's time for the final card for my November Guest Spot at Really Reasonable Ribbon!
This time I decided to bring a little late Sunshine into your life with this cute Stampabilities character!

Card Recipe:
Image - Lucy Watering Her Flowers by Stampabilities
Medium - Copic Markers
Paper - Country Drive by Echo Park
Border Punch - Vintage Doily by Martha Stewart
Card Candi - Vintage Honey
Ribbons - Brown with White Stitched Edge, Gingham Multi Orange, White with Grey Dots , Sheer Box Pleats White and Swirl Orgnaza in Moss

I love how the two ribbons look when layered over each other.

I know it's a corny sentiment but I loved the ribbons so much that I wanted them to be the focus of the card and so I created and cut spools to display them.
I have had a wonderful month here at RRR and thanks Bonnie for asking!

Christmas Card Set

Hi everyone.  Bonnie here today with a pretty card set I made using one of my new favorite ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
We just received this beautiful Sheer with Shimmery Edge Ribbon  in 6 gorgeous colors.

Okay, so I think it's a well know fact that I have much difficulty with the Clean and Simple style of card.  BUT, I continue to try.  You would think that CAS would be the easiest type of card to make, but apparently I just don't know when to stop.  I admire all of you who can pull off this style.  It takes me hours to come up with a card and I break out in a cold sweat while doing so!

I know some of my 'teamie's' laugh when I say something is CAS, but this is as CAS as it gets for me!!  You will not likely see a single layer card from me EVER!  I just can't do it!!  There are so many crafty goodies calling out to me 'Use me, use me!!"

I actually don't hate this set I came up with, but I have to admit that I'm itching to add a few dozen doo-dads to them along with about 6 or 7 additional layers.  I think it's a disease.  hehehe

Here are some close-ups.

This card uses Sheer with Shimmery Edge Blue Ribbon

Did you know that Really Reasonable Ribbon offers gift subscriptions for 3, 6, or 12 months for our Monthly Ribbon Club?  This is the perfect gift for a crafty friend because you can never have enough ribbon!!  Your friend will get a fun little present each month for the term you select.  AND, one of the cards above will go out with the first shipment with a personalized message from you.  How cool is that??  Of course, if it's for someone who has a birthday or other event to celebrate during the holidays, we will change the sentiment on the front of the card.  You can order at any time and specify the starting month and when you want the first shipment to be sent out.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Vintage Retro Angel Christmas Ornament

Happy Tuesday Friends!!
Heather here, with my third
Really Reasonable Ribbon blog post.
I'm in Christmas mode.  So today's creation is a
Vintage Chic Christmas Ornament.
(I know you are thinking...she is always doing ornaments....lol).
I used some fabulous ribbon and trims from RRR.
Red leaves, ivory pom poms, peppermint baker's twine and aqua organza ribbon, really add to my retro Vintage Christmas ornament.
I used a freebie image from Gecko Galz.  You can find it on my blog.  I did some editing to it, then added it to a different background and shrunk it so it would fit with in my spellbinder die.  I used some candi foam pads to add a little dimension to the "letters to Santa" piece.
Here are a couple close ups.
I used ivory card stock for my piece that I used with my spellbinder die.  Inked my edges with Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I used Art Glitter Glue to add glue to my piece and I applied both red and crystal glitters (refer to photos for placement).
This is a super easy ornament that you can make.  I will have the image the size you need on my blog.
Hope you have a great day!
Hugs!!

Christmas Traditions & Chevron Ruffled Flower Video

Today I wanted to share my Ruffled Flowers made using Really Reasonable Ribbon's Red striped  Chevron Ribbon. These are super fun to make, and I love the look of them. I also did a VIDEO below to share with you all.

I used the Chevron Striped Twill Red Ribbon for a border and for the bow as well. The Buttons on my card are also from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these too!!! Bonnie carries a ton of different colors in them, and I'm in the process of adding more colors to my collection...hehehehee

The Beautiful Deer is a CottageCutz Die and I airbrushed her, and then colored her filigree cape. The Holly Berry is another CottageCutz die as well, and was airbrushed. I used the darling deer dp, and checked to go with it, thought it was sooo CUTE!!!!

Thank you for looking and have a wonderful week!!

This is a wonderful time of year to show our loved ones how much we care by presenting them with a handcrafted Christmas card or gift. I've been having lot's of fun layering the fabulous Really Reasonable trims with pretty patterned papers and vintage images and unique embellishments.
I really enjoyed this not so traditional color combination inspired by the banner and jacket on the vintage Santa image. I've layered him over a tree die cut from an old book page, a crimped and inked craft piece and aged paper doily.

This sweet little poofy bow has Cherry Bakers Twine layered with Ivory Wrinkle Ribbon and topped  off with an ivory sprayed jingle bell.
Take some time to create a personal creation for someone special and don't forget to add lot's of trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon to make your projects that much more meaningful....they're sure to become treasured keepsakes!
I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative :)
Hugs Ginny

Decorating with Ribbon

Christmas is my very most favorite time of the year, and decorating my house is high on my list of faves, too.  I will decorate every nook and cranny...it is the clean up afterward that I don't like so much!

Here is one of the many ways that I use my ribbons to assist me in my holiday decorating:
Ribbon can spruce up a plain light fixture!

I simply used a plain pine garland and wrapped some red ruffle ribbon and red gingham ribbon around it and stuffed it into the inside of my light fixture.  I used various lengths of 3/8 red grosgrain ribbon to hang some ornaments and viola...Drab to Fab!!!!
I sure hope that I have given you some inspiration today!
Just pull out some ribbons and start adding it to your decorations!
You will love the results!
Have a Fantabulous Day!

Christmas Bow Tutorial

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was lovely and simple. Lots of yummy food and the blessings of my Mom, Dad, husband, and son...and of course the animals. We gathered around and ate and than chit chatted. So thankful for simple times like that. They are the memories I hold most dear.  I hope yours found you well and happy...and full of pumpkin pie!                                              Now that thanksgiving has passed, it is definitely time for full on holiday crafting. Have you started? You better get to crackin'....it will be here in a New York minute. It always comes faster and faster each year. You can never have to many holiday cards in your arsenal. With cards comes bows..so I thought I would share my bow method again using my beloved red seam binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon . You know me and my cheating...it is so much easier to use separate bows... and for me the best way to go about getting that perfectly imperfect crumpled look I love. I did a full wrap around on this card...wrapping all the way around the cardstock and tying a bow near the top. I wasn't too concerned with the first bow. I then added a few of my paper diecuts to the card base. Then.. as you can see in the second pic I tied my second bow and adhered it. I use hot glue. I am too impatient to wait. I always hold it there for a second with my finger right in the center which causes the ribbon around the bow to "poof" up..which I like. I also sometimes will wet a paper towel just a smidge and wrap my ribbon in it lightly to crumple it up again. I notice sometimes when you start playing with it it can start to straighten back out . I usually use two separate bows..but once in awhile will add a third if it is not full enough. The trick is to alternate the bows so they criss-cross each other. Easy peasy. From there it was just a matter of adding my goodies to the card and I was done! I would love to hear if you tried this and if  it worked for you! Hope you enjoy..and I didn't confuse you too much! Happy craftin' and hugs, cherry

Ric Rac Flowers

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all U.S. ribbon lovers! I hope you are enjoying time with friends and family today! If you have time for some crafting, maybe you can try this easy ric rac flower!

Step 1: Cut your ric rac in two lengths. I used Light Pink and cut two lengths of 20 inches each. I twisted them together every so often and sewed along one edge with my sewing machine. If you don't sew, you could use liquid or hot glue.
Step 2: Start rolling up your flower from one end, adding dots of hot glue every so often.
Step 3: Tuck the end underneath and glue to the bottom. You will have a little rosette!
I wanted more of an open flower, so I spread out all of the "petals."
Step 4: I cut a small circle of matching felt and hot glued it to the bottom of the flower.
Step 5: Using a coordinating color of felt, I cut two leaves and glued those to the circle. I attached the flower to my card using Scor-Tape. And voila!
I added a row of the same ric rac along the bottom and added a flower button and some string. My sentiment is by Technique Tuesday and the designer paper is from the Everyday Eclectic Collection by Echo Park. There are a lot of beautiful ric rac colors in the RRR Store HERE. At a cost of about 30 cents for this flower (as opposed to much more pre-made in stores) you can make a whole garden full!

You could add a clip and make this a hair accessory, or attach it to a headband too!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will give this a try!

The Most Beautiful Time of Year

Hi folks!  Vivian here today to share with you a card I just finished that was very much inspired by this beautiful time of year.  Right now in Vegas, temps are fluctuating.  Some days, there's a bit of a bite in the air that requires some bundling.   And others, you could get away with shorts and a T-shirt!  It's a welcome change from our stifling summers, and now the pooches and I look forward to brisk and lengthy walks together every day.  While the change of colors here is not nearly as spectacular as the autumns I grew up with, I fondly remember that incredible East Coast display and a feeling when I was young that my world had turned golden.

For this project, I used Shimmer Gold Satin from Really Reasonable Ribbon to make my focal image.  I love how this stuff glistens in the light.  And it was substantial enough to maintain its shape when cut and sewn as shown in detail below.

In addition, I used "Autumn Melody" papers that I won from DCWV for my video making skillzzzzz woo hoo!  To bump up the textures, I upcycled some corrugate with a new acquisition, a Sizzix "Frame, Fancy" die designed my Karen Burniston to frame a sentiment from TPC Studios.  The maroon border was punched with a folksy Martha Stewart edger punch, and I handmade the stick pins using paper scraps!  For the center of the bloom, I used the same DCWV papers with an Epiphany Crafts tool for a perfectly coordinated accent.

Thanks so much for visiting with me today!  Hope you'll stop by  for regular inspirations!!!  Oh and FYI, a request came in on my blog to show how I made the flower on my altered chipboard box that showcased here earlier this month for our Challenge #60, "Anything But a Card + Ribbon." So there will be a video tutorial link on my blog this Friday illustrating how to make it.  Our RRR challenge is still going on, btw!  Are you gonna play along?   Looking forward to seeing all your creations!

Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too! by Katie

It's time for another card for my November Guest Spot here at Really Reasonable Ribbon!
I have really enjoyed being able to go overboard with all the wonderful ribbons that Bonnie has in the store and I hope you are enjoying seeing my creations this month.

For my card I decided to go super girly and create a card with super sweet Tilda!

Card Recipe:
Image - Summer Flower Tilda
Medium - Copic Markers
Paper - Country Drive by Echo Park and Unknown
Border Punch - Martha Stewart
Sentiment - Mary Engelbreit
Cherry Brad - The Paper Studio
Doily - Italian Flourish by Cheery Lynn Designs
Die - Scrapmart Exclusive Spellbinders
Card Candi - Vintage Honey
Ribbon - White with Grey Dots, White Double Ruffle and Sheer Pink Cherry

This was such a cute image that I thought the Sheer Pink Cherry ribbon was a perfect compliment. I used the fabulous Bow Easy to make the gorgeous double loop bow in just a minute!
So there you go, another creation for Really Reasonable Ribbon and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
