Life's Little Blessings

I hope you guys are all having a great Saturday.  We are planning on going to football game later today but are finally expecting some decent rain down here in Texas so we might just be watching it on TV.  We need rain so badly so you won't hear any complaints from me.

I recently receivedd my order of October Afternoon - Woodland Park paper.  I love this collection....the navy blue is so pretty.
I added some buttons and tied a pretty bow with this Navy Blue Ribbon.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut he scallop ovals.  I added this adorable little racoon sticker from the collection pack...he's so sweet!

Celebration

Hello everyone...
I am very excited to share a cute card that I created using 1.5" Cream Mesh Ribbon (one of my absolute favorite ribbons!) and simple lace for layering.

This 1.5" ribbon was wrapped around the card horizontally and ended with a nice bow tie, with leaves, lace, and flower on top. The rest of the embellishments are the vintage tags, and simple die cut with pearls added.

Here is the detail photo of the project;

Other materials:
October Afternoon die cut
Papertreyink Cutting die
Prima patterned paper
Recollections flower and leaves
American Crafts cardstock
Queen & Co pearls

I hope you enjoy reading today's post and please share some of your creations with us...
Have a nice day! ... Linda

Get Your Party Hats On!

Hey all! It's Emily here with another fun project post!

I created a paper bag mini album and matching party hat for a special Birthday Girl! I just love the colors in the paper, it lead me to use LOTS of fun ribbons! Ribbon is the perfect embellishment, weather you tie it to the spine of an album, or use it for tags.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Halloween Treat Box

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a Halloween Decorated Treat Box made for Really Reasonable Ribbon, using Beautiful Ribbons and Pom Pom Trim.
I picked up this treat box at Walmart.  I picked up 2 for my nieces to give them for Halloween. I will fill them both with candy and thought they would get a kick out of these darling boxes. On this box I made a hair bow, so my niece can use it afterwards.

I made the hair bow out of the 1 1/2" Orange Circus Dots ribbon, then used the Polka dots that came in the September Ribbon Club kit from RRR. I then used the Black Gingham Ribbon, and added a Halloween brad to the center.

Next, for the bottom of the box I used the Pom Pom Trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon and
Bonnie has a ton of different colors to choose from. LOVE these!!! I think they are one of my New Favorites! Of course I have a ton of RRR FAV's!!

For the Gothic Gate, it is a CottageCutz Die from The Scrapping Cottage, it's a Halloween one, and I LOVE it! I used Faber Castells to color it up and Tim Holtz orange ink for the pumpkins.

Baker's Twine Tips

\
Hi! I really love using baker's twine, and I like to thread it through buttons and such. I also threaded it back and forth through some of the lace for an accent.Sometimes it's hard to get it through the holes, especially if you use more than one piece. I have a quick tip that makes it easy. Just take a tiny piece of double sided tape, put it right on the very ends of both pieces and twist, kind of like the end of a shoe string! Then it's easy to get it through anything you want it to go through!!!!
I used that technique on this card, along with lots of stickles!!!
Here are a couple of closeups where you can see where I ran it through the button and also the pretty lace.

supplies used:
pink ribbon

I added some "faux stitching" with my Zig markers. I just used a vintage image and then used different colors of stickles on it to bring out some dimension. I hope you play with your baker's twine and have fun using mixed colors and combinations!!!

Thanks so stopping by and please come back to see what's next!!!

Little Monsters

Happy Monday everyone!!!  I hope you are up and ready to face a wonderful week as we have just OFFICIALLY entered into the Autumn season!  YAY!  It is my most favorite time of the year weather-wise.  Down here in Texas it gets SUUUUPER HOT in the summer, so we kinda look forward to the fall  months!
This Friday, my youngest son will enter  into the Double Digits...YIKES.
He will be 10, but we had his birthday party a little early...and he decided on a "Little Monster" theme this year.   I made monster cupcakes, monster music, and even made monster invitations.
Here are the invitations using RRR ribbon on each one!
So, it was the first time I used my cricut machine in MONTHS!  LOL.  My kids decided they would name each monster...so here they are...
Cyclops Sally Spider comes in wearing a satin Orange bow from the RRR Club Assortment.
Her "silk" is cleverly disguised, but is really the black and white bakers twine from the mini spool Garden Party Set.
Next up is Polly Punkin.  Her "hair dresser" used both ivory and moss jute ribbon in 1 1/2 in size to create her stem and leaves.  And then added in an "extension" using strands of lime green leaves .
Five Arm Freddy is sporting a super sophisticated black bow-tie from the RRR Assortment Collection...and doesn't he look fabulous!

Willie One-Arm has issues brushing his hair, so he just sticks with a mohawk made of Lime Green ric rac from the Mini Collection.
And last up is the coolest...and appropriately named after my own son...the Birthday Boy.

Dayne the Devil makes his entrance with a monsterly cool hair-do.  Lime green and yellow silks form his mohawk from the Checkerboard Assortment.  He decided to add in some black tips also, using an ink applicator...doesn't he look dashing!?

Of curse I made more invitations than that, but the others didn't sport the fantabulous ribbons tht these do!  LOL
And here are the cupcakes that I made...Each one different, each one special.

I think my son had a Magnificent Monstrous Birthday Party...but honestly, it put me in the mood for HALLOWEEN!  lol
Here is a little something to help get YOU into the Halloween mood!

RRR altered Halloween wood block

It is officially Fall now and I am guilt free in posting fall and spooky projects to my heart's content. I have been hoarding a few wood blocks and decided to play around with one. I love the old primitive ones from the good ole days with the sweet nostalgic images. The ones I have are solid wood and quite heavy. I painted it and sanded the edges a bit. I then grabbed some fun embellishments and some yummy RRR ribbon and started embellishing the block.
I wrapped my burlap ribbon in black around the whole block and hot glued it down. I added vintage style images to both sides and then made my bow for the top. I covered some chipboard frames with papers and added them to the images. Of course my top was way too plain jane so I added more ribbons for fullness. I used seam binding ribbons that I crinkled and aged with distress ink. I also added a chipboard stamped tag wound with Halloween baker's twine. A few more little goodies...buttons, a droopy houndstooth daisy, and some diecuts and I was done...almost. I sprinkled the block all over with some mica flakes. It kinda turned out vintagey...but primitive. I love that combination and can't wait to set it out on our new kitchen counters with some berries. Hope you enjoy! hugs, cherry

Double Gate 3x3

Today I want to share with you a little card I call Double Gate 3x3 card. They are fast and easy to do, and make great little gift enclosures.
Here are the instructions on how to make this:
You will need a scoring tool (I used my Scor Buddy), a double-sided piece of 6x6 designer paper, and whatever you want to embellish the front.

1. Score your 6x6 paper at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2". Fold to the center as a gate fold.
2. Turn your paper sideways and score again at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2". Fold to the center, as a double gate fold.
3. Open up and you have a grid of nine different-sized squares. Prepare the inside as you wish, but keep it fairly flat. I used a piece of cardstock, designer paper and another piece of cardstock for my sentiment.
4. Embellish A SEPARATE little design for the front. This piece needs to be unattached to the folded 3x3. Attach with a clip to keep closed. Easy peasy!

Here is a photo of the front design separate with the "card" opened.
My images are from Rubbernecker Stamps: Giraffe and Top to Bottom. The sentiment is cut out with a Spellbinders Circle die and then pierced around the edge. I added some Natural Jute Ribbon and Orange/White Hemptique Baker's Twine from RRR and held it all together with a little orange paper clip. Try it out!

Hemp Border Tutorial

Hi. Lisa Lara here as September's Guest Designer.
Today I'm going to show you how to make a border using
20 lb Hemp Variegated Spool red/white

First draw your guidelines.  I measured 1/4" from the outside edge all the way around my panel with a ruler and pencil.  Then I punched a hole at the intersection of my lines on all corners using a 1/16" hole punch.

Erase your guide lines.  Then thread a piece of hemp first in one hole, adhere to the back then thread the other end in the other corner on the same side and adhere at the back. I used score tape to adhere.

Here is what it looks on the back after I threaded one piece through for one side of my panel. Now do the same for the rest of the sides. TIP* I used the lead at the end of a mechanical pencil to push the second piece of hemp through (it is a tight fit).

Here is the front view with all sides finished.

Here's the back view of the completed front.

I attached my panel to my card base using 1/8" foam tape. Voila.

Snack Back Holder

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all having a great week!
I have a cute project to show you today that is perfect for classroom parties!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the Halloween Snack Bag holder from Lori Whitlock.   These are perfectly sized to hold a snack size baggie filled with treats.
I embellished them with some cute die cuts and tied them closed with some beautiful chevron twill ribbon.

I saw the idea for this one on Pinterest.  I cut created the sentiment on the computer and tied this one with pretty daffodil ribbon.  Wouldn't these be cute on the first day of school?

You can read more details about these on my blog.
