Bouquet of Cheer

Hello everyone and Happy New Year's Eve to all!!!  I can't believe this year is almost over.  I hope you all have a wonderful New Year.  I'm sure we all will :)

For today's post I've used Really Reasonable Ribbon's Pink Velvet Ribbon.  I LOVE this stuff!!!  I also used Crochet Lace in Pink to make a little rosette for the top bow.  I've added all wild orchid flowers, and my image is from Heartfelt Creations.  I've added sewing and some diecut pieces to complete my card.

To view all Velvet Ribbons visit Really Reasonable Ribbon HERE! Also Bonnie has soooo many Beautiful Ribbons to choose from :) Have fun!!
Also, I hope everyone has a Happy New Year, and I will see you next Friday!!

Ready for the New Year

The Christmas tree decorations are packed away and stored in the attic. The black-eyed peas and pork chops are ready to be cooked. The party hats and noise makers have been bought. And the first page of my 2011 calendar has been scrapped. Yep, this year I plan to create my own calendar from scrapping supplies. Here's the January page.

Each month I am going to embellish one of KI Memories Sew Cute calendar pages and then actually use it to keep track of my family's day-to-day activities (sports practice, appointments, days off, holidays, etc.). In order to be functional, I decided to keep it pretty simple, so I just numbered the days, embellished the front, and created a pre-made layout on the back for my favorite photo of the month. And, of course, those embellishments included ribbon.

For the front, I used lots of Cherry Baker's Twine. There's a three inch strip to connect the mittens. And then each of the red buttons is finished with a little bit. Since discovering the Baker's Twine Assortment in the store, I just can't leave a button untied. It is the perfect finish to any button.

After the month's end, I plan to choose one or two pictures to add to the brown mat. More importantly, I plan to journal about the importance of the photo. Then, I'm going to place each page in an album. Won't it be fun to go back and see just exactly where the time went?

Um, how cute is that snowman with his Red Rik Rak scarf? LOVE that! I also added some Red Circus Dots Grosgrain on top of all my paper strips using Scor-Tape adhesive. Definitely my favorite adhesive for adding ribbon strips to a layout.

Oh, and look, another button with Baker's Twine. Big surprise there, hun? Ha!

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you'll come back on Saturday for our January 1st Challenge. And Happy New Year! Aphra

Tuesday: "Thanks"

It's Tuesday again.  What a frantic week has passed since my last post here, but I've lived to tell the tale, as you can see!  Here are a few very quick 'thank you' card ideas you may be needing after the holidays.  I never throw away a piece of ribbon more than 1/2" or 3 cm long, as these little bits are so useful when you need a tiny dimensional accent on a card or project.  Another weakness of mine is free fonts!  There are so many amazing freebies out there to download, something for every taste, and they are very useful at times like this when a quick card is needed.  As well as ribbon there are of course the other wonderful trims at Really Reasonable Ribbon, and I can't wait for autumn so that I can use some of the beautiful burgundy and orange leaves on my projects.

Thank you for looking!

Memories

The Holidays have been truly amazing. Sharing time with the ones you love is so special and the Holidays is the time to really be thankful for all of our blessings. I hope that you all had a fantastic Christmas.

Hello Everyone, Erika Taylor here to share with you a layout I did recently using some wonderful ribbon from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store. This is a very special layout for me. Each year at Christmas time, I present my husband with a handmade gift showing him my love and devotion. This layout is about just that, a moment at Christmas 2008 where my mom captured a photo of the gift giving.

I've used the Ivory Satin Pleated Trim to give this layout just a little lustre. I distressed the ribbon using some walnut stain Distress Ink to match it better with the layout itself. Using that little bit of ribbon on a project can really make a big difference.

To create the dimension with all of the elements, I've used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Helmar Zapdots . Really easy to use and makes a project come alive. I so love the look of that pleated trim coupled with Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante papers.

Well, that is all for today. I hope that each and every one of you have a wonderful New Years Eve and may you be blessed with peace and prosperity in the new year.

Happy New Year!!!!

Erika Taylor

Silver Sparkleations!!!

With all of the packages opened, we hope you have had a marvelous Christmas and will continue to have a blessed and fulfilling holiday season! In the North Carolina Mountains we are having a snow storm which was completely unexpected so the day will be spent inside thinking of which cards to make next...THINK VALENTINE'S DAY!!! That's what I am thinking....although White Christmas is all around me!

But I did want to show you my last holiday card for the year which uses some very lovely ribbons from the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop.

For the horizontal on the front of my card I used 7/8" Silver Grey Organza, although this lovely ribbon comes in four different widths. And please check out the number of colors available in this organza at RRR. You will be amazed!! I made a double flat bow using the Bow Easy Tool. This organza is so easy to tie into a bow and keeps its body beautifully.

For the inside of my card I used horizontals with a base of the same silver organza on the front of the card, but I topped it with 5/8" Shimmer Satin Silver. This type of ribbon, available in 11 gorgeous colors as well as an assortment package, is so sparkly and pretty and a delight to use. The picture does not come close to showing you the sparkly elegance of this ribbon.

If you would like more information about my card or you would be interested in a SWEET STUFF surprise including 13 lovely RRR ribbons and trims you can visit me HERE. Until next Sunday, hugs from Jacque!

Ponytail Streamer Tutorial

Hello and Merry Christmas!!!  Today I have a cute little Ponytail Streamer Tutorial for you.  These are so cute and easy to make!  Here are the supplies you will need:

I usually use 3 different coordinating ribbons~ one is 7/8", one 5/8", and one 3/8".  Today I used some fun Christmas styles.  The 7/8" is Christmas Multi-Striped Grosgrain, the 5/8" is some Red Snowflake Grosgrain from the October Ribbon Club Assortment, and the 3/8" is some Merry Christmas Satin which is on SALE!!!

You also need a glue gun, an elastic ponytail band, scissors, ruler, and lighter(optional).  I cut my ribbon into 14" strips and cut the ends into a V.  The easiest way to do this is to fold your ribbon in half:

Then cut at a diagonal from the folded edge up towards the end:

This should give you a perfect V!

Do this with all of the ends and heat seal with your lighter:

Now, layer your ribbon on top of each other:

Find your center:

Mark Your Center:

Add some hot glue all the way across where your center point is:

Add a 1-2" strip of 3/8" ribbon:

Flip the layers over and add some glue to attach your elastic band:

Now wrap the ends of 3/8" ribbon strip around the elastic band and hot glue into place cutting off any excess:

Heat seal the end:

That's it!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!  See you next week!

Kerri :)

Merry Christmas Eve!

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas Eve. My name is Cathy La Hay. I'm excited to be a guest designer for Really Reasonable Ribbon this month.
I'll start by telling you a bit about myself. I'm a wife and a Mom to two wonderful Golden Retrievers named Louie and Abbey. I'm also an Aunt to several wonderful nieces who are my scrappy subjects. I started out scrapbooking in 2004 and was strictly only a layout scrapper until about 2 years ago when I realized that I was running out of photo's that I could scrap. From there I found a new passion in making cards. However, I do love to get my hands on a few good photos every now and again!
I am currently a designer for Helmar USA Adhesives and I'm so excited to be able to incorporate that into my cards that I created for Really Reasonable Ribbon. What a great pair!

So onto my cards......

For all of the cards below I used an assortment of Christmas ribbons and really had fun with them. I especially love the Star in line large gold ribbon  . The creativity using this ribbon is endless.

Isn't that Happy Holidays card to die for? It is such a simple card to achieve and makes beautiful use of the Christmas ribbon. Simply cut 3 different strips on ribbon, each a different length. Make a bow and glue it down. I used 3 snowflakes from Tim Holtz Grungeboard that I inked and popped up with my Helmar Adhesives Zapdots. Such a simple card with a big look!
Don't forget about the money cards and tags that you can create and decorate using Really Reasonable Ribbon. Every year I incorporate the two of them together for the gifts of money that I give to people.

I'm so thrilled that I got to create for Really Reasonable Ribbon and share my work with you all. I hope your holidays are filled with happiness and tons of creating!!

Sincerely,

Cathy La Hay
